Cluster Classes

Share Your Passion and Make a Difference!

Do you have a unique talent, special interest, or expertise? Enrich the lives of Cumberland’s 4th and 5th graders by leading a Cluster Class! This popular PTA-sponsored program offers small, engaging learning experiences, creating lasting memories and sparking new interests.

What are Cluster Classes?

Cluster Classes are small-group sessions led by parents, staff, and teachers on three Friday afternoons in May. Students explore diverse topics through hands-on activities. Past classes include: energy science, DJ mixing, leadership skills, robotics, public speaking, podcasts, engineering, sign language, chess, origami, genetics, yoga, catapults, juggling, backpacking, crochet, running, and art. The possibilities are endless!

Why Teach a Cluster Class?

  • Impact Students: Share your passion and inspire the next generation.
  • Build Community: Connect with students and other parents.
  • Flexible Commitment: Teach 1, 2, or 3 sessions. Choose your format: single session, multi-week seminar, or different classes each week.
  • Small Class Sizes: Enjoy teaching in an intimate setting with manageable group sizes.
  • No 4th/5th Grader Required: All Cumberland parents are welcome to share their expertise!

How Can You Help?

  • Lead a Class: Design & teach a session on your chosen topic. Reach out if you need ideas!
  • Co-Teach or Assist: Support an instructor and engage with students.
  • Volunteer: Help with setup, coordination, or attendance.
