STEAM Fair

The Cumberland STEAM Fair is here and now split into TWO NIGHTS!!

All grade levels are invited (and encouraged!) to spark their curiosity and sign up!

The 25th Annual STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) Fair is a non-competitive event that provides an invaluable opportunity for young minds to get hands-on experience exploring the wonders of science. In January and February, students will work individually or in a team to create a STEAM-based project that will inspire them to think critically and creatively—problem-solving skills they can apply throughout their lives.

Depending on grade level, projects can be as simple as tracking coin flips to creating battery potatoes (and even more!). To get an idea of what can be covered we’ve provided some STEAM projects and poster board examples for you.

In February, the project will culminate with your student assembling key parts of their work on to large PTA-supplied display boards.

This year, we’re splitting the night into two (to allow for more space for all of our amazing exhibits).

For grades K-3, these boards will be exhibited at the STEAM Fair on Wed. Mar. 19 from 6-7:30pm (Parents and Caregivers) and Thurs. Mar. 20 from 8:30-9am (Classroom visits).

For grades 4 & 5, these boards will be exhibited at the STEAM Fair on Wed. Mar. 26 from 6-7:30pm (Parents and Caregivers) and Thurs. Mar. 27 from 8:30-9am (Classroom visits).

Be on the lookout for your Student Guide at the end of January beginning of February for more information. Questions? steamfair@cumberlandpta.org

Volunteers

We’d love your help! If you’d like to volunteer, there are plenty of opportunities from classroom visits to present the STEAM Fair in mid January to the actual day of the event in March. Just send an email to steamfair@cumberlandpta.org to express your interest.

Parents and Caregivers

Some projects will be completed within the classroom setting. Your child’s teacher will let you know what their plans are in their regular correspondence to you. There will be a paper document that is sent home with your child but sometimes those get lost, so you can also get it here:
